Who are you traveling with?
A fantastic fellow cyclist and my Jack Russell Terrier. Along with several hundred other adventurers who take to the roads annually, biking their way around the world.
Why are you taking your dog?
Honestly, I love the little guy and it is only fair that I include him in my plans. It isn't fair to leave him for 100 days. That is almost 2.2 years for a dog! Plus, he is just like me, adventurous and fun loving. We make a perfect couple.
How can you afford to take this much time off of work?
Fortunately, I was able to quit my job back in March to spend some time with family and to pursue something more rewarding and challenging. I loved the company I was with, but needed a break and some time to think. I figured that now is that opportunity. After all, we only have this moment.
How long will the ride take?
I am aiming for around 100 days, but am going to take it one day at a time. I want to stop wherever I feel so inclined - to meet people, to experience different towns, to see new sights, and to just live in the moment for all it is worth - be it a bright sunny day or a rainy day wrought with logger trucks and flat tires.
Are you nervous?
To say no would be a bit arrogant. I have my reservations, but I also have my strength and am confident that I will forge my way. I've always been adventurous and have hair-brained moments, but I do not regret taking chances. You can't succeed without risk. I like calculated risk and fortunately, I have some great people in my life that will come to my rescue if I am in need...I hope...you're there...right?
Where will you sleep?
I hope to camp most nights, either in campgrounds or in city parks, or churches. I will gladly seek shelter when storms are too wet or dangerous to make camp.
What will you do after the ride?
Well, at that point I will be dirt poor. Well, mostly dirt poor...maybe even eating dirt poor...so I will need to seek out an income. I want to immerse myself into something challenging and rewarding, but also balanced. I work to explore and to see the world. I can't live by 2 weeks vacation a year. It takes me 2 weeks just to get to the far reaches of the earth in many instances! I hope to write a book too. I just have to get it all on paper.

I feel the same way you do. My job and routine gets in the way of my life. I have 2 dogs now. Had to adopt one cause it was going to the pound. Would like to keep in touch with you. ant72_us@yahoo.com
